Throughout their lives, Tracy and Dustin were no more than 15 minutes away from each other. Tracy grew up in Palos Verdes, and Dustin grew up in Torrance. They even went to the same college! But they finally met at work, TVGla, where Tracy is a project manager and Dustin is a designer. Their company changed seating arrangements a few short months after Dustin started, and their new seats were right next to each other! By way of being on the same team projects and frequent instant messaging, they started to become close friends, which grew into friendly hangouts outside of work, which then grew into a relationship – all over the course of seven months. They’d love to say it was a cute love at first sight kinda story, but some of the best relationships start out of friendships!
They both knew almost immediately (we’re talking only 2-3 days!) after jumping into the relationship, that this was it. Dustin was such an amazing friend, and Tracy was so worried to ruin that with a workplace romance, but it did the opposite – it only enhanced what they had. Tracy never felt more herself and Dustin truly brought out the best in her. Tracy’s favorite romance comedy is very fitting, “When Harry Met Sally”, “…when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
Tracy and Dustin both love the Fall season, and in the year before their engagement, Tracy visited Oak Glen, an apple farm town just a couple hours outside of LA. The town is at the base of a mountain, so the seasons really do change there! Dustin knew how much she loved it and they planned a trip with their group of friends on November 9th, 2012. They got up to Oak Glen that afternoon to find that apple picking season was only a short three days that year, in comparison to the typical eight weeks! They weren’t able to pick apples, which almost destroyed Dustin’s plan. He was told that they could roam the groves though, and while her friends kept her preoccupied, Dustin set up streamers and string lights between two apple trees. She made her way back around to find him, and her friends were able to catch the entire thing on camera!
