Angels Stadium Engagement | Kara + Travis

Engagement

Kara and Travis’ engagement shoot was SUPER special and fun because it was at Angel Stadium!  We love it when couples choose a location that is out there and different, and one that represents a little bit of who they are.  Kara is actually a Dodger fan, but Travis is Angels all the way (they still love each other though).  It was a cool once in a lifetime opportunity to get to go in and shoot their engagement photos at the stadium!  Kara and Travis answered a couple questions we asked them about their relationship, and instead of telling you about it, I thought you could just read their words for yourself!  Enjoy their story, and their engagement pictures!  Both are so fun!

Travis and I met in the Spring of 2005 when I was a senior in high school and started my very first job at Officemax! He graduated the year before from my rival school and was working while going to a local community college. He trained me on the cash register and we became instant friends. I always enjoyed when we worked on the same shift together (except I wasn’t too thrilled when he made me take out the trash and go fetch all of the carts in the parking lot! haha) I started college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo later that Fall but I always saw him when I came home to visit. Our friendly hangouts slowly became more serious in the summer of 2008 when we began talking more about our lives and plans for the future. It became clear we wanted and valued the same things. I shared my feelings with him and I am so blessed to say they were returned! (Apparently he had liked me for awhile, and those friendly dinner and a movie hangouts may have been more like dates—my bad! Thankfully Travis is a very patient man) We spent the first year of our relationship long distance driving four hours to see each other, him in Anaheim working as an electrician and me in SLO for my last year of college. After graduation I moved back home to Cypress to be near him and our families!

Travis proposed last year on September 23rd, our three year anniversary! He told me that he had made dinner reservations for us to celebrate and that I needed to be ready by 6:15pm. To my surprise, we walked down the stairs of our apartment and were greeted by a town car to drive us to dinner. I spent the whole drive guessing where we were going until finally we stopped in front of the 555, a premiere steakhouse in Long Beach that Travis previously said he would take me to for “a special occasion”. We shared a bottle of wine, salads, filet mignon, and a delicious dessert before getting back in the town car, driving down PCH, and arriving at a hotel by the water in Huntington Beach. Travis had checked in earlier that day and had a bottle of champagne from Bianchi, our favorite Paso Robles winery, waiting in the room. We exchanged anniversary cards and to our surprise, we had gotten each other the same exact one! I opened my card last and Travis had written: “These three years have gone by so quick and each day I love you a little more. It makes me so happy that you’re the one I get to spend the rest of my life with.” When I looked up, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was the most amazing ending to a perfect night.I had a good feeling I would marry Travis as soon as we started dating. We had been close friends for three and a half years so we knew we were really compatible and truly enjoyed each other’s company. He possesses all of the qualities any girl could wish for in their future husband. Travis is level headed, respectful, and a great communicator. What really sealed the deal for me though was how much my family loved him– he fits right in and everybody adores him. Now when we go to my family functions, people joke “Travis, we’re so glad you’re here! What did you bring her for??” I am confident that he will make the most supportive and loving husband, so I was anxiously awaiting his proposal before it happened!

Travis wrote: As Kara had mentioned, I knew we were fit for marriage early on. We have similar goals and values in life. Being good friends before dating gave me pretty good insight on what I was getting myself into, a long-lasting, loving and fun relationship. My family absolutely adores Kara and had no problem accepting her as a part of the family. I know Kara will make a fantastic wife and one day, an outstanding mother. Oh yeah, we’re madly in love!!!Travis is the most kind-hearted and giving man in the world. He is most fulfilled when he is taking care of the people closest to him, and I’m blessed to be the one he spoils most! He always goes out of his way to make me feel special and loved. I love that most of the time we are totally goofy with one another and that our life together will always be full of fun and laughter!

Travis wrote: Kara is the most thoughtful person I know. She puts friends and family before herself, and will go out of her way to make you feel special. I can count on her to be there for me, no matter the situation. She is crazy and I love it. It keeps my life interesting and brings some of the crazy out in me. A big plus in my book is that she like beer and sports, how can any man not like that?
