Wendy and David met in college at USC, through a bunch of mutual friends! They were in the same friend group for about a year, not really on each others’ radars, but when Wendy took David to a Kappa invite her sophomore year, he was COMPLETELY blown away! π
David said this beautifully, when asked what drew him to consider marriage with Wendy:
“Wendy had become such a beautiful, important part of my life that I had an urge to share every part of my life with her, and have one home, one bank account, and one story we get to write together for the rest of our lives. But even more importantly, as believers, we really felt like we were called to a life on mission together. We are about a million times better together than we are apart, and we felt like we were ready for a lifetime of loving and serving Jesus together.”
David proposed to Wendy at Terranea. He had a few of his friends set up a bench, Christmas lights, and a bunch of yellow roses. On the bench was a treasure box filled with a bunch of symbols that represented promises he wanted to make to her as her husband! In addition to the symbols, he gave her a handmade journal full of letters that explained the symbols, and why he wanted to marry her. She went through all of the symbols, and the last one, was the ring! He got down on his knee and she said “YES!!”
There’s a John Piper quote that says, love is “finding your joy in the joy of another” and I think that describes Wendy perfectly.” -David
“We love reading, hiking, anything competitive (sometimes it gets dangerous), cooking, playing cards, and just hanging out talking.” -David
