Amy and John’s relationship is natural and kind. They love each intensely and that is clear from the moment you meet them. Their Malibu Creek State Park Engagement was effortless and we loved watching them interact.
Amy and John first met on the first day of work at a company called 2tor (now called 2U) in September, 2012. They had both recently finished grad school at neighboring UC’s (Irvine and Riverside), and moved to the DC area to start work on the same team at 2tor. They were the only two people starting on that day, and were asked to do “Two truths and a lie” as an ice-breaker.
“I don’t remember what my truths or lie were, but I guessed that John’s lie was that he’s the oldest of five kids because that just seemed like a lot of kids. I was wrong, he is in fact the oldest of five kids – his lie was that he spent part of grad school in Budapest (he actually spent part of it at CERN in Geneva, CH). He pronounced Budapest “Budapesht” which is actually how it’s pronounced but no one says it like that because it sounds snooty and pretentious. So I thought he might be snooty and pretentious and didn’t know if we’d get along. But we became friends over the next few months as we worked together before we started dating.”
In their free time, Amy and John love to rent movies from Redbox and watch them while enjoying ice cream, take walks around their neighborhood, explore new restaurants and shops, do the weekly crossword puzzle, travel, and visit friends. We are excited to have Figlewicz Photo capturing Amy and John’s Gerry Ranch wedding in July as these two get ready to start life as husband and wife.
