Ashley and Drew’s Gerry Ranch wedding was full of beautiful details and this incredible venue provided an incredible backdrop for their big day. Drew and Ashley first met in college during a Fourth of July weekend celebration. They met at a pool party Ashley was throwing and they kept in touch all summer through mutual friends. They spent that summer becoming best friends and that foundation grew stronger with time and grew into something amazing!
“We met when we were the dumbest versions of ourselves and I love that. We have had the great pleasure of growing up and out of our silly young selves and can now look back and laugh at it all…together! No one knows me better than Drew. He knows my good and he knows my bad. He elevates me to be the best version of myself. Our love, like I said, is founded on a friendship that is built to last. Our bond is tight and every struggle has turned out to be a beautiful blessing. Why not spend life with your very best friend and laugh all the way through?”
We love when a couple takes this perspective on marriage! Also, their engagement story is adorable so we will let them tell you in their own words:
“I love our proposal because it so very us, a little different, intimate, and not at all showy. To tell the story of our proposal I have to take you back, back to the day when Drew met Matt. Matt and Drew met in college playing baseball. They quickly clicked and became best buds right away. Turns out Matt and Drew actually knew each other from the old neighborhood days when they would play street hokey on the block. Matt and Drew have the best friend relationship everybody wants and envies.
Matt met and eventually fell in love with Joanna, Drew’s baby sister. There love was strong and swift and brought them into marriage quickly and excitedly. Their wedding was during the summer of ’16 in June Lake and was beautiful and intimate and so perfect. After the wedding was done and everyone went home it was just me, Jo, Matt, and Drew left. We spent our second to last day fishing in the sun and walking through streams. Matt and Jo got Drew and I together to take a picture with a beautiful mountainous back drop. It was so perfect with not a soul in sight. When I turned to smile at the camera, drew dropped down on one knee and it was the most beautiful sight. To see the man I love ask me to love him forever was just the best thing I have ever witnessed. It was just the best day, again that feeling of being on the precipice of greatness came rushing back for us both.”
Ashley and Drew, thank you so much for inviting the Figlewicz Photography team into your wedding day and we wish you the best as you enter marriage!
