Robyn and Greg both moved to San Diego from the South Bay, but did not meet until a mutual friend invited them to Hennessey’s “2-4-1 burger night.” These two were friends for 2 years before they started dating. Here is the story from our bride and groom-to-be:
“It started in the summer of 2007 when Robyn was working at an ice cream shop in Mission Beach and Greg was teaching surf lessons. Greg would come get ice cream from Robyn after his surf lessons, then they would ride bikes together to watch the sunsets on Law Street in Pacific Beach. All of their friends knew something was going on. Finally at the end of that summer in 2007 at a fun barbecue they shared their first kiss.”
A few years later…
“In February Robyn took her first Paint-n-Pour class in Redondo Beach with some friends. She loves to be creative so naturally she raved about how much fun she had to Greg when she came home. This is when Greg got the brilliant idea on how he would propose. A few weeks later in March he told Robyn that it would be fun to go to Paint-n-Pour again with their friends because there was a ‘surf scene’ coming up. She thought it was a little odd that Greg would want to paint anything, but figured it was because of the ‘surf scene.’ Never one to turn down a good time with friends, she agreed.”
When they arrived for their lesson, everything was all set up. Greg had planned everything with the help of a few of Robyn’s friends. The night turned into a girls vs. guys painting competition. “When it was time to unveil the girls went first, and of course Robyn thought she won. Next, it was time for the boys to reveal their paintings. When Greg turned his around he had added an airplane in the sky carrying a banner saying, ‘Will you marry me????’ He was standing there with his painting and a ring and of course Robyn began to cry and say, ‘YES!'”
