Lisa and Jonathan met at a mutual friend’s wedding. Lisa was a bridesmaid in one of her best friend’s wedding. She had gone to law school with both the bride and groom, and Jonathan had studied abroad in Siena with the groom. Somehow Jonathan and Lisa had never met, though they probably almost met several times. At the wedding, Jonathan offered to “buy” Lisa a drink (from the open bar, of course) and said something funny about the groom. They danced all night, then Jonathan asked for Lisa’s telephone number. They went on their first date a week later, and the rest is history!
Their proposal happened on July 4, 2017! It was right in the middle of the work week so they decided to stay home with their dog, Riley, and watch the fireworks in Huntington Beach. “We had a perfect day– champagne on the patio, all sorts of delicious snacks, and a lot of laughing. Once the sun had set, we got ready to walk to the beach for the fireworks. I went to grab a sweatshirt and some shoes. When I returned, Riley had a big red bow around her neck. Perplexed, I bent down and then realized that there was a very special ring on the bow! Jonathan got down on one knee, and there were even fireworks to celebrate!”
“After over 4 years, we still giggle like little kids on a daily basis. On a more practical level, we are both very family-oriented and have the same values and priorities. We love brainstorming ideas together (career, travel, real estate, new recipes– you name it), and spend hours just talking about the future. It’s pretty hard to imagine any of it apart from each other!”
We are so thankful to have been part of Lisa and Jonathan’s Laguna Cliffs Marriott wedding! Monique Atwell of A Signature Wedding did an incredible job coordinating this event and we so enjoyed working with her, as always! We wish Lisa and Jonathan loads of happiness in their future!
