South Coast Botanic Gardens Wedding | Kate & Kenny

Kate and Kenny’s South Coast Botanic Gardens Wedding was gorgeous and we love how their love story and wedding have deep ties to the South Bay. 

“Ken and I have actually gone to school together since middle school! We graduated the same class from PVPHS in 2004, but we didn’t have mutual friends so we only sort of knew each other, or at least I knew him since he was part of the “popular” crowd. I guess you could say we “re-met” in 2013 at Hennessy’s in Redondo Beach. We were both living in Redondo just a few blocks away from each other. I walked in with my best friend/roommate and automatically recognized who he was. He was actually sitting with some friends who I knew from our high school. As the night went on he finally got up to leave and I noticed he was waving at me, so I excitedly waved back and he came over and we began to talk. I started off the conversation with something like, “Wow! I haven’t seen you since high school, how are you?” Once the night was over he walked both myself and my roommate back to our apartment and then asked for my number. About 2 weeks into dating, the truth came out about how we met. He said that when he got up to leave that night in the bar, he was actually waving goodbye to someone behind me (cue humiliation) and to make it even worse he denied remembering who I was in high school. However, according to him, he was stoked that this “attractive girl” was waiving at him so he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to approach me. All in all, I’m SO glad that I thought he was waving at me or we wouldn’t be here today.” 

We want to join in on the excitement that Kate caught Kenny’s eye that night because this South Coast Botanic Gardens wedding was one for the books! Their outdoor, bohemian, rustic event made our fall wedding hearts go pitter-patter and we are so excited to share this blog with the Figlewicz Photography family. We wish all the happiness and love to these newlyweds and are so excited to watch them take on this new adventure!
