Our story is constantly changing and growing – and while we like where it’s headed, we are also SO enjoying the ride along the way! Born and raised in sunny Southern California with a love for the ocean, it was no surprise that we would eventually find each other, right? We are going on strong, now in year 10 (say what!?!) of our marriage, and we are STILL very much in love (EVEN when we work together)! Because we were married when we were both pretty young, people always ask us if we were shocked by the realities of marriage. I think the only thing that really shocks us is that we are still finding out new things about one another all the time. Some things that haven’t changed, however, are our love for each other, our family, and, of course, THE BEACH!
Over those 13 years, somehow our 2 grew into 5 and now we have a house filled with diapers, Legos, very little sleep, and a whole lot of laughter. When we aren’t taking photos of weddings, we are taking photos of our two daughters, Carly (6) and Dylan (8) and our son, Nathan (11) playing at the beach.
Someone once said that they spent their 20’s creating their family, and their 30’s creating themselves. We definitely agree – as we come to the age of “creating ourselves” we’ve found that wedding photography is a dream we both share a passion for. Getting to do it as a career to support our kiddos is a DREAM COME TRUE!
So now, here we are! We have been doing wedding photography for 9 years and we have done over 350 weddings! Casey started out doing all types of photography, but realized when he came into shooting weddings that he could use his skills in all those different areas at one time! In shooting weddings he could tap into his experience in fashion photography, product photography, portraits, action – you name it! It really came together when I jumped on board with my passion and creativity and we became a husband and wife, fully functional, wedding photography team! Every wedding we photograph tells it’s own unique story about the bride and groom and we love to find that personality and style in all of our couples. All that’s left for us to do is bring that out in our pictures – and that’s where it begins to happen naturally.
At the end of the day, the fun is not in getting to do photography (though we DO love taking pictures) – it’s in the relationships we have with the couples we are working with. I mean, come on, it’s your WEDDING DAY! That’s a big deal! When a bride and groom trust us to let us be a part of such an intimate and exciting time – we can’t help but feel blessed by that! That’s why we love what we do!
In the future, we would love to see our photography take on a new form. As we are constantly changing and growing – our story will (undoubtedly) surprise us again one day. Our dream would be to bring our kids with us to photograph the needs of people all around the world. Through capturing poverty, pain, and loss, we hope that one day our photography can be used in getting people to care enough to meet those needs. We would love to see our photography create a stirring in people that brings change to our world and we definitely think it’s important for our kids to see that as well. Big dreams for a little family – right? Oh, the places we’ll go!
