Japan Nojiri Wedding | Miho & Miles | Part 1

Weddings

From Andrea:

I had the amazing opportunity to photograph my cousins wedding in Nojiri, Japan this summer! My grandparents moved to Japan to be missionaries in 1955. There they raised their 3 children and built a life among the people of this incredible region. Their son Jim, met my aunt Hydi who was also a missionary kid growing up in Japan and they went on to raise their kids in Japan as well and this is where our story picks up. Japan holds a special place in the heart of my family for many reasons! In 1978 my dad decided to go to Japan on a short term missions trip and that’s where he met my mom. He will tell you that the first thing he saw in Japan was my moms big blue eyes! ❤️

In 1988 my family traveled to Japan to visit my grandparents. That trip is one of my favorite memories of my childhood because I caught the travel bug and was hooked for life! When my aunt and uncle invited me to Japan this summer to shoot Miles and Miho’s wedding I obviously jumped at the chance and am stoked to share their photos with you.

Miho and Miles got married in Nojiri, Japan where they met each other and currently live. This community is where my mom spent many summers during her childhood and it will take your breathe away! I also spent time there in 1988, fishing with my grandpa, playing in the lake, and exploring the forest. I was ecstatic to be there again! It is a perfect place to have a whimsical wedding full of bohemian magic. My happy place!

How do you not fall in love with this scenery?! The colors in Nojiri’s trees and water were particularly vibrant on this summer day and I was blown away by how the mountains jumped out of this photo as Miles and Miho shared a few moments along on the docks.
